It is beyond disturbing, sad and scary! I learned a lot. Sorry for all you have seen and gone through. The hatred and ignorance is hell on earth. Are humans ever going to emotionally evolve?!
Thank you Irwin, a very timely and judicious piece> What a tragedy it has to be written at all. I am not Jewish but stand firmly with our (UK) Jewish community and Israel. I am making donations, writing to my MP and attending vigils, marches and the recent celebration of Chanukah. But still it is disconcerting that so many others treat it like it is nothing to do with them. My eyes have been opened to antisemitism of the unthinking and uncritical kind I didn't think still existed - but which now is all too evident. It is so saddening to think of the young Jewish kids over here who don't have to listen to stories of prejudice and hatred as if those are in the past, but can see it now on the streets and in the media. The Jewish community is standing firm here and showing all the wonderful attributes that it has contributed over the years to British society, but they are sadly a relatively small proportion of the population. Still, I have faith in them and our government is supportive and the police getting better. Hopefully more people will wake up and see the evil of the Hamas death-cult and how they are even selling the Palestinians out. Remember: Pharaohs of Egypt; Roman Emperors; third-Reich scum: they're all gone, the Jewish people are still here! Am Yisrael Chai
