Winners and Losers

There’s some really good news that should make this a Merry Christmas. Millions of travellers have been stranded by storms sweeping across big parts of the country. That means, first, that millions of Americans love their families enough to want to be with them on this holiday. Headline stories about families with such different views that it is impossible for them to gather peacefully around a turkey or ham are nonsense. It means, second, that if the globe is warming, we are having a bit of a breather. Perhaps not of long-run consequence, but enough of an event to permit those who doubt climate models to poke a few jokes at the greener greens.
